
Antonio C. Cuyler (he/him), Ph.D. is Professor of Music in Entrepreneurship & Leadership at the University of Michigan’s School of Music, Theatre & Dance, with additional faculty appointments in Voice & Opera and the African Studies Center. His research focuses on creative justice, arts administration, and cultural policy, particularly examining how the creative sector can protect historically marginalized peoples. He authored several influential books and reports on diversity in cultural organizations. As founder of Cuyler Consulting, LLC, he partners with cultural organizations to advance access, diversity, equity, and inclusion. In 2024–25, he will be Lyric Opera of Chicago’s inaugural Scholar-in-Residence. As the first Black man to earn tenure in arts administration in the U.S. at Florida State University, he has held faculty positions at several prestigious institutions.
