Workshop 6
Workshop 6:
Driving Change through ‘The Engine’: Participatory Evaluation with Young People at London Transport Museum
Rachel (Tiggy) Allen, Beth Atkinson (London Transport Museum, UK)
Since 2018, London Transport Museum has been developing a participatory evaluation model with young people connected to a co-produced theory of change for the Learning & Participation work at the Museum.
This group of young people is called The Engine, and operates as an advisory board/group of consultants with lived experience which meets on a regular basis to evaluate the Museum’s programmes for young people.
This workshop will share the model, key learning and structure of the participatory evaluation process before offering a practical opportunity to test out and reflect on your own progammes using two frameworks:
1. The young people’s mandate for change at the Museum
2. Beginning to build a Theory of Change for your own work with young people
Participants will leave with an understanding of how to build a participatory evaluation process with young people in their own organisations. The workshops will demonstrate that starting with co-producing the outcomes themselves is a fundamenta part of the process, and will ensure evaluation asks the questions that young people want answers to.
