How can digital technologies be used for your own work? What opportunities or hurdles are associated with their use and what skills must be developed or expanded for this? The aim of the funding programme initiated by the Senatsverwaltung für Kultur und Europa [Senate Department for Culture and Europe] is to strengthen digital awareness and digital competence in Berlin’s cultural landscape and thereby increase participation in the capital’s cultural offerings.
The programme is designed for individual, defined digital projects that are highly exemplary. Whether they involve processes, project ideas or prototypical digital tools – the focus of the funding is on gaining practical knowledge and exploring the potential for further development and use of the solutions via open source platforms.
Scientific support by the IKTf
The Institute for Research on Cultural Participation [Institut für Kulturelle Teilhabeforschung, IKTf] provides scientific support to the funded institutions and initiatives throughout the funding period. It supports them in documenting and describing their objectives throughout the process and in being able to review them at the end of the project. The aim of the research is to gain practical insights and document lessons learned for the project participants and their future work, as well as to promote digital projects in the cultural sector and cultural participation. In particular, it will reflect the extent to which the digital empowerment of artists, producers of culture and institutions can have an impact on the visibility, reach, broad effect and also barrier-free access to cultural offerings in the state of Berlin.
